Stephen Brandt-Hansen - I julens lys (In the Christmas light)
I julens lys (In the Light of Christmas)
Stephen Brandt-Hansen's new CD brings us into the light of Christmas
With a repertoire of the best Christmas melodies mixed with several freshly written songs in the genre, Stephen Brandt-Hansen is releasing "I julens lys" (In the Light of Christmas), a manifestation of the ultimate Christmas experience. Stephen Brandt-Hansen is the man with the golden voice, familiar to Scandinavians from musicals performed in the Nordic countries and Europe. He won "The Golden Opportunity" show on NRK, was one of four finalists in the BBC's "Musical voice of the year", has played the lead in several popular musicals and has given concerts to packed houses across Norway. He has a fantastic register of expressions and the dynamics, power and sensitivity that we are lucky to find once in each generation of singers.
The recording, which is Brandt-Hansen's debut CD, reflects the sound of a large open space, with enough distance and volume for the listener to breathe freely while enjoying the many fabulous details. With Iver Kleive on organ and piano, Anders Engen on percussion and Sigmund Groven on harmonica, together with a choir directed by Marian Lisland, this is a Christmas record of an extremely high calibre. "O holy night", "Beautiful Saviour" and "Silent night" are all featured on the CD, which also has new songs that are exciting additions to the Christmas repertoire, including the song by Sigmund Groven and Erik Hillestad that gives the album its title.
