"Det er magisk å lytte til" - Vårt Land
With hearts and minds full of traditions from the Snåsa mountains and impulses from extended stays in metropolises abroad and in Norway, the Ljom band makes its majestic debut, five young musicians with a CD they have called "Seterkauk" [Calling animals home from the mountain dairy farm]. The album will be released in June. Ljom is blessed with a very talented and versatile singer, Kjersti Kveli. The rest of the band members are all gifted musicians who are willing to take chances and break the unwritten rules of tradition. We hear Sivert Skavland (clarinet), Anne Marte Eggen (bass), Tor Morten Kjøsnes (piano) and Nils Anderson (guitar). Ljom has selected an approach to folk music tradition that is brimming with imaginative improvisations, the sound of jazz combined with kauk (the singing call to get the cattle to come back to the dairy farm) and narrative songs from dairy farms regions in the county of Nord-Trøndelag. Ljom is a ground-breaking band bursting with ideas, curiosity, enthusiasm and courage. KKV has fallen for their charms and is releasing the album before the mountain dairy farm season commences.
