Rikard Wolff - Tango
The Nordic King of Cabaret sings songs by Carlos Gardel as interpreted by Mikael Wiehe
Rikard Wolff's new CD "TANGO - Rikard Wolff sjunger Carlos Gardel i svenska tolkningar av Mikael Wiehe" (Tango - Rikard Wolff sings songs by Carlos Gardel as interpreted by Mikael Wiehe) will be released in Norway on 23 February and in Sweden on 25 February. The album features 13 songs from the repertoire of legendary tango singer Carlos Gardel. The recording was made in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Stockholm, Sweden, with some of Argentina’s finest musicians, led by Carlos Corrales on bandoneon. The album’s producer, Erik Hillestad, has previously collaborated with Rikard Wolff on the Christmas record "Desemberbarn" (December Child) and last year's platinum-selling hit "Sorgen og gleden" (Sorrow and Joy).
On the Tango CD we hear fabulous musician Pablo Agri on violin, Andres Linetzky playing piano, Ricardo Lew on guitar and Daniel Falasca on double bass, all belonging to the elite of tango musicians in Buenos Aires, as does also Carlos Corrales, the bandoneon player and arranger.
The songs on the album include such classics as "Volver" (Return), "Caminito" (The little path), and "La Cumparsita" (If you saw me), and also some unknown Gardel songs such as "Knock out de amor" (Knocked out by love), and "La hija Japonesita" (The Geisha from Yoshiwara).
