Lars Bremnes is an amazing songwriter. The lyrics on this record contain stories, moods and little opservations from all over the Norwegian Country.

Many music lovers will remember “Å kunne æ skrive” (I wish I could write) from “Soløye” (The Eye of the Sun) featuring the sibling trio Kari, Ola and Lars Bremnes, released in November 2000. The record featured Lars’ unique song-writing talent, with his trademarks of a supreme melodious quality and powerful and poignant lyrics. The most famous songs from his earlier solo album include “Fiolinan” (Violins – the most frequently played Norwegian song on the radio in 1997) from the “Søndag” (Sunday) album, “Jon har fått sæ dame” (Jon’s got a girlfriend) and “Astronomi” (Astronomy) from the album “Boarding nu” (Boarding now) (1999). This summer most Norwegians will have heard his song “Du må si ja” (You must say yes) from “Røverkistebunn” on the radio. On
“Røverkistebunn”, Lars’ rich expressive voice is accompanied by Jørn Christensen (who also produced the record) and Georg Buljo on guitars, Helge Harstad on bass, Martin Winstad on drums and the mellow brass sounds of a Salvation Army band. The music has a wonderful vitality to it, with a rustic, country-rock lilt, and surprising and moving little twists. Lars’ lyrics are small narratives; windows through which he shows us his observations of life.
