With a new band and 14 new songs Kari Bremnes is releasing her ninth solo album “Over en by” (Over a City). She has written all of the lyrics, and most of the music.

On this album Kari Bremnes has shifted into a new gear. The essence of her art as a singer/songwriter is more brilliant and inspiring than ever, letting you sense the sparkling energy bubbling underneath her coll and elegantly understated observations on life, time, love, and disguise.

The songs on her new album reveal the artist’s uncompromising approach to content and style, and often break away from the traditional form of verse following refrain. Combining this with her new band, she has created a fresh new form that cannot be easily categorised. She gives us poetic, pensive, small musical worlds – the feeling is more than ever of the shimmering beauty of Kari Bremnes’ music.

Her band consists of Knut Reiersrud (guitar), Bjørn Kjellemyr (bass), Helge Nordbakken (drums), and Bengt Egil Hansen (keyboards). Other contributors are Nils Økland (fiddle), Arve Henriksen (trumpet), and Børge Pettersen Øverleir (guitar). They have all played on previous Kari Bremnes productions, but this year’s combination is new.

The CD was recorded at Rainbow Studio by Jan Erik Kongshaug. Bengt Egil Hansen, assisted by Anders Engen and Erik Hillestad, produced the CD.
