In 1975 Kirkelig Kulturverksted started a collaboration with the publisher Luther Forlag, the result is the LP series "New Church Music" with an editorial team consisting of Trond Kverno, Terje Kvam, Harald Herresthal, Alf Christian Hvidsteen (sound engineer for most of the records), Erik Hillestad and Fredrik Grønningsæter (theological consultant). The editorial team was led by Per Inge Almås.
The record in the series was dedicated to Arild Sandvold and his works for choir and organ. Norstrand Kirkekor (conductor: Terje Kvam) and Bjørn Boysen were performers.
Arild Sandvold hadde en sentral posisjon i norsk musikkliv. Som organist, dirigent, pedagog og komponist ble han en pionér i norsk kirkemusikk. Fra 1933-1966 var han domorganist i Oslo, og sto for en imponerende kirkemusikalsk aktivitet. 70 oratorieoppførelser og 554 gratiskonserter i Domkirken.
Arild Sandvold had a central position in the Norwegian musical life. As an organist, conductor, pedagogue and composer, he became a pioneer in Norwegian church music. From 1933-1966 he was the church organist in Oslo, and was responsible for an impressive amount of musical activity in the church. He played 70 oratorio performances and 554 free concerts in the Cathedral.
