A master of melody gives wings to profound words

She has never lent her voice to the platitudes. Even so, there is a new gravity and energy in her latest album, where all the lyrics have been written by Terje Nordby. Anita Skorgan has started a new and exciting project with one of Norway's foremost lyricists. Her new album "La høsten være som den er" [Leave autumn as it is] presents a collection of songs from a new lyricist/songwriter pair. In an uncommonly beautiful and evocative way they combine appealing and challenging voices.

Anita Skorgan has been a stable presence for us as a composer and singer for more than three decades. We connect her name with powerful melodies, a special vulnerable appeal and unrelenting quality. Now she has merged her melodic vein with the rich minerals from the world of words. The outcome is a truly durable and endearing alloy. With musicians such as Olav Torget on guitar, Rune Arnesen on drums, Jørun Bøgeberg and Øyvind Madsen on bass and not least Jon-Willy Rydningen (who is also the co-producer with Anita) on keyboards, you can look forward to an extremely pleasing listening experience.

The themes in the lyrics range far and wide: Breaking up, forbidden love, life-force, infatuation, autumn leaves, death, lies, God and longing. The autumn is a time for reflection. But it is also a time full of life, with a range of colours unparalleled in any other season, and the composer and lyricist use this broad canvas to the full. They do it for our pleasure, whether we are on the way into one of life's many autumn seasons, or in the multi-dimensional autumnal phase of life.

The album was recorded in Kulturkirken Jakob and is released by KKV.
